debug'd for Dash and Dot: Inclusive Coding Curriculum Implementation Series

Susie Blackstien-Adler and Christy McDonald

Welcome to debug'd for Dash and Dot: Inclusive Coding Curriculum Implementation Series!

Like you, we believe it's time to include ALL students in coding instruction! The Debug’d series of training modules will introduce you to the scope and sequence of the debug'd coding curriculum and an appreciation of how the scaffolded lessons and adapted materials support student learning. This inclusive coding kit has been designed to support teachers who are new to coding, teachers who are new to providing a UDL approach to instruction and of course, students who have complex learning needs.

By the end of the debug’d training modules, you will:

  • understand the importance of coding for all students.
  • understand that students need to be actively engaged in all parts of the lesson to learn to code.
  • learn about the coding concepts introduced in the Debug’d coding curriculum.
  • learn how to use the lessons and adapted materials in Debug’d with Dash and Dot to support active participation.
  • learn about extension/generalization activities offered to support students in integrating the skills learned from coding instruction into their daily activity.

So, roll up your sleeves and dive in!
